Overview:

Though 96 percent of the Honduran population identifies as Christian, people in rural areas of the country are typically steeped in Christo-paganism, a syncretistic blend of ancient pagan rituals and Roman Catholicism. In these areas, followers of Christ, especially those engaged in evangelistic outreach, are often persecuted by family and community members. Destruction of homes and livestock is the most common form of persecution. At least one evangelist has been killed recently for his faithful witness.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray that Christians will boldly share the gospel in rural communities.
  • Pray for persecuted Christians who have had their homes burned or livestock killed.
  • Pray that Christians who are persecuted in rural communities will draw near to Christ and experience his presence.
  • Pray for the salvation of those who practice syncretic Christo-Paganism and persecute biblical believers.
  • Pray for the encouragement of local Christians following the murder of a local evangelist.
