Volunteer — Operations Center

Christians around the world are paying a high cost for their faith. Volunteers make it possible for us to stand with them in meaningful and practical ways. By serving, you become part of a global fellowship of prayer, action and tangible support — helping sustain hope for individuals facing isolation, injustice and violence.

Volunteers serve at the VOM Operations Center, assisting with essential production and mailing projects that support our global ministry efforts. This role plays a vital part in making sure that resources and communications are prepared and distributed accurately and efficiently.

We invite you to join us in work that truly matters.

Do you provide housing and what is the cost of the housing?

There are several furnished, two-bedroom apartments that are made available to approved volunteers. Each apartment sleeps four to six people in single beds. Some units have a double or queen bed and two twin beds, so those only sleep four people. Each apartment has a working kitchen, bed linens, laundry, Wi-Fi and local phone. The apartments are scheduled on a “first-approved,” first-served basis, and reservations must be made in advance. Check-in is Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Check-out is Saturday morning before 10:00 a.m. Check-outs are not allowed on Sundays.

All towels (including hand towels and washcloths) and extra bed linens are provided and can be found in the hallway cabinets of each apartment.

Do you provide meals for volunteers?

Volunteers must provide their own meals. The Operations Center has a break room with a refrigerator, microwave and sink.

How many people can I bring in my group?

Groups may not exceed 15 participants.

For youth group reservations, there must be at least one adult leader age 21 or older for every five students of the same sex. In addition, each minor volunteer must have a signed Minor Volunteer Release Waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian.

What is the age limit for children?

Children under 8 are not allowed to volunteer. Individuals or families who bring other minors or grandchildren must also have a Minor Volunteer Release Waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

How do I apply to volunteer?

All prospective volunteers are required to complete the online Volunteer Application. Paper applications are not available. Our Human Resources team will conduct a background check, review your submission, and notify you by email once your application has been approved. When you are ready to begin serving, please contact the Volunteer Services Schedule to arrange your volunteer opportunity, which may be scheduled for up to one week.

All adults age 18 and older must submit a volunteer application, and all volunteers are required to renew their application every two years.

What if I am a returning volunteer?

Returning volunteers can contact our Volunteer Services team at volunteer@vom.org. If you have not volunteered in the last two years, please complete a new application.
